![]() As temperatures in the interior of Canada increase due to daytime heating, tight pressure gradients may generate higher than expected gap winds in interior passes to Canada. One exception is the far northern inner channels and possibly some interior gaps. Winds will remain mostly light by SE standards both in the gulf and inner channels through the early part of the weekend. Meanwhile, minor upper level high has placed itself over SE AK. Friday through Monday/.Starting out the Friday time period, an upper level low south of Kodiak Island will slide eastward then push into the northern gulf on Saturday. Overnight lows should be a little warmer than last night. This has resulted in significantly cooler daytime highs so far today as compared to yesterday. Suspect this situation will continue through Thursday night with the best chance for clear skies over the southern Panhandle. The much anticipated precipitation from a short wave working its way over the top of the surface ridge has not yet materialized over the northeast Gulf coast.
